If you know me personally or you follow me on any social media platform, you should know that I am not shy about being born & raised in Flint, MI! I am a proud Flint native who has since moved to metro Detroit but will always have love & admiration for the place that made me who I am today! Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock or two, I am sure that you have heard about the sad misfortune that hit Flint a few years ago called the Flint Water Crisis. To give a brief summary, a lot of Flint residents are without a clean water supply due to a lot of circumstances beyond their own. This problem has frustrated me since I found out about it because I still have so much family and friends who still live in Flint.
I personally, have donated several ways since the Crisis has started and for my 30th birthday a few years, I started donating my actual birthday to the Water Crisis. Typically, I donate to the Flint Foundation or give cases of water to a local church. This year I wanted to do something different so I hosted a Happy Hour and raised funds for the new project The Water Box which is in collaboration with First Trinity Church and Jaden Smith. The Water Box is a portable filtration system that can produce unlimited clean water. This project will provide clean water and jugs to residents free of charge on certain days of the week! I am super happy to say I formally donated to the cause on today & donated and undisclosed amount of jugs that I am prayerful will help someone else during this trying time. If you want more information on the Water Box Project and how to donate, please click here! I am thankful to everyone who has donated or plans to donate to helping my hometown and giving back more than you know! I am also thankful for all of the hometown heros who have stepped up to help the city of Flint!
